TA/DA Calculation Procedure for Government Employees (Transfer, Temporary, and Retirement Cases)

The following TA/DA Calculation procedure is for both Federal and Provincial Employees. It covers TA/DA for employees on Transfer, Temporary Duty and on Retirement.

Before calculating TA/DA on any of the above case there are some elements that need to be kept in mind. These are described as under:

Rates of Daily Allowance for Ordinary and Special Cases

List of Cities where Special Rates are applied

Following is the list of cities, while TA/DA calculation, special rates are used (for the purpose of Daily Allowance). All the other cities which are not included in this list are considered ordinary cities. By the time of writing this post, the following is the list of cities:

1. Islamabad 2. Hyderabad 3. Karachi 4. Sukkur 5. Lahore 6. Multan 7. Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan) 8. Gujranwala 9. Bahawalpur 10. Sargodha 11. Sialkot 12. Rawalpindi 13. Faisalabad 14. Peshawar 15. Quetta 16. Northern Areas 17. Muzafarabad 18. Mir Pur AJ&K 19. Gwadar

TA/DA Calculation (Temporary Duty)

Calculation of TA/DA on temporary duty may be different depending on the conditions of the duty and facility provided to the employee.

For example, if you are provided with residence then you will claim only Daily Allowance & TA. If you are not provided with residence then you will claim TA, DA and Hotel Charges.

Normally the Hotel Charges are 2x dailies claimable. The chart of daily allowance is given above.

TA/DA Calculation (On Transfer)

To get TA on transfer, first it should be mentioned in your Transfer Order. The approval can later be sought as well. Well, in any case, you need four things for TA/DA Calculation on Transfer:

  1. Daily Allowance
  2. TA
  3. Basic Salary (1x)
  4. Luggage Charges

Daily Allowance

The rates for ordinary and special cases have already been given above. The important thing that needs to be kept in mind is all the family members above the age of 12 years will get the Full Daily; while members below it will get half daily.

In some cases, depending upon the TO, nikkah naama and B-forms are also required (kind of verification).

Basic Pay

The employee will get one current Basic Pay.

Luggage Charges Calculation

Luggage charges can be calculated by the following formula:

Luggage Charges = Weight (of luggage) x Distance (travelled) x 0.02

TA/DA Calculation (On Retirement)

The formula for TA/DA Calculation on Retirement is same as Transfer, only Daily Allowance (DA) will not be admissible to the Employee and his/her family.
