I received questions from many visitors about the admissibility of Family Pensions to Dependent Disabled and Retarded Children of Government employees. After searching all the related questions I have reached the point that such children of civil servants are eligible for the family pension. The details are as under:
Family Pension to Dependent Disabled / Retarded Children of Govt Employee
The Government of Punjab, Finance Department issued a Notification on 18-07-1994 in connection with Revised Pay Scales 1994 for BPS-01 to BPS-22 employees. As per para 8 (b) of this Notification, the dependent disabled and retarded child has the right to get a family after the death of their father/mother. The Contents of Para 8 (a) are as under:
“Grant of family pension to dependent disabled/retarded children for life without any age limit”
Pension for Life and No Age Limit
According to the above para, the disabled/insensible dependent son/daughter will get the family pension without any age limit. In generally a son is eligible for a family pension till the age of 21 years age. But in this case, the disabled/insensible son/daughter will get the family pension without any restrictions on age. They will get the family pension till their life.
